moved parking pole

They moved the pole while we were gone. It might seem a small matter, but the position of that pole was significant for two reasons.

First. It's the spot where I rest and lock my bike.

Second. There's now a lesser chance for the parking attendants to score.

I'll explain.

Well, the first reason is rather straight forward. The original pole was just a few steps from our front door. It's the closest pole that you can lock your bike to. It made for a natural bike holding spot, even when we don't use the wire lock.

The second reason is why I'm a bit surprised. Since the bus swings into the street and there used to be an island, the ban on parking/stopping started 15m from the intersection. The island has been gone for years. However, the empty space is too enticing to frustrated searchers of the ever elusive parking spot and easily misguided by the friendly appearance of the space.

It was the biggest parking ticket generator in the neighborhood. The meter maids knew that on each round there was nearly a guarantee to have a sucker or several parked in the spot --the first illegal makes the others falsely cocky. 750kr bamm!

I wonder how much the revenue of parking tickets has been affected by this uncharacteristically reasonable update of the parking zone.

The discovery was first witnessed but not noted this morning. We returned from a week's trip to Boston yesterday. Coming back from dagis I was surprised when I seemingly went too far past it. I chalked it up to jet lag. Returned to the "new" pole and left my bike.

Later as I shook some rugs I realized that the pole was farther and new. I'm still a bit in shock.
